Hello Blogging World!

Well, it's official. I'm going to attempt to join the blogging world. Of course, if you were to go back and read the first post on most people's blogs, you'd probably read some sort of similar greeting, followed by a promise to faithfully update everyone on the daily-goings-on of their lives. I shall make no such promises, as I know myself better than that.

Case-and-point: when I became pregnant with our child, I bought myself a very cute, easy-to-use journal titled, "The Belly Book." Just as the title suggests, the book's purpose was to allow sentimental moms to take weekly pictures of their growing bellies and write notes about how they were feeling during that time. I love this idea. Really. I do. That's why I bought the book.

I didn't take a picture until week 13 (note - I don't look pregnant). You'd think this would have been a clue that this whole journal-ing thing might not have been the best idea. Took the second picture at week 15 (note - I don't look pregnant), followed by Week 16.5 (note - I still don't look pregnant), and Week 17.5 (note - I still don't really look pregnant). Then low and behold, the next picture was taken when I was 24 weeks (note - I do look pregnant)! And then 32 weeks (because I had a baby shower and people force you to take pictures at those things...even when you're pregnant (or should that be because you're pregnant)...and we all know how things are starting to look at that point). And I'm pretty sure that was the last picture that was taken of me pregnant. No, I take that back. There was one more picture (taken with a disposable camera) of me on Christmas morning with no makeup, 6 days before I birthed my child (like that one was going to make it into "The Belly Book")!

But let's be honest here, did any of those pictures make it into "The Belly Book"? Of course not. In fact, that book was in such pristine condition that I was able to pass it along to my sister-in-law to document her pregnancy! (please note: she knew the story behind the book - I'm not selling myself out here). The moral of the story...I've got the best intentions when it comes to documenting things, but I tend to be lacking in the follow-through department. Therefore, I can make no promises that this blog will be any different. My only hope is that I can be motivated by family members and friends who don't live nearby and really might like to know what is going on in our little world.

As someone who is new to blogging, but who enjoys reading other people's blogs, one thing I know is that people like pictures. With that being said, I have included pictures that have absolutely nothing to do with anything I just typed (which I believe is usually a goal in blogging - tell a story and post pictures that support said story). However, the little Peanut who has inspired this blog is too cute, in his mother's humble opinion, to not share pictures of. So enjoy the random pictures...and say a little prayer that this first post is not my last. :)

If you could only hear the sound that goes with this face. :) (It's something of the "Meh!" variety.) This picture was taken on the porch at Watervale this summer. What would we have done without the Baby Einstein Exersaucer (or as I like to call it, the "Lazy-Mommy-Baby-Holder") that our friend let us borrow!? Thanks, Amanda! :)

A family pict. outside of the cottage before the barbecue. This might have been the first time my child had ever worn real shoes...or jeans...or a button down shirt, for that matter. This way the people in Michigan think I dress my baby like a stylish little man at all times, although in real-life, my child wears onesies...every day (which I believe is the equivalent of wearing yoga pants or running shorts every day...hmmm...wonder where he's getting this.)

Our sweet little boy LOVES to be outside. The temperatures in Michigan were in the 70s and low 80s while Dallas was experiencing record-breaking heat (it was 108 the day we returned home!), so we took advantage of every opportunity to be outside.
Lying on a blanket under the tree outside the Mary Ellen and chewing on Sophie. Life is good.
Yes, my child was wearing a sweatshirt at the end of July. Gotta love it.
