16 months
"But wait!", you say to yourself, "P is 17 months!", to which I would reply, "My! You know him so well!" Yes, yes he is. But, at the end of April (when I seemingly penned this blog post and saved it as a draft thinking I would come back to it, which I never did), P was 16 months. And this is what I had to say about the little peanut...
Happy 16 months to our Peanut, and what a month it has been!
Highlights:
WE'RE WALKING! It only took the kid 16 months, but he's finally deciding that walking upright might not be such a bad thing after all.
One milestone we haven't "hit"(?) is in the word department. P continues to say "boom"...and that's about it. He does mimic sounds a lot now, like saying "Weeeee!" (although it is more like "Eeee!" while he's swinging, but there is no calling us "mama" or "dada." I have heard plenty of stories of kiddos who didn't say a word until they were 2 years old (or around there) and then just busted out with a full vocabulary. I trust that our child will one day talk to us using words that we understand. Right now he babbles like nobody's business, and a lot of it is pretty precious. I need to get a video of him saying something to the effect of, "Beezee-beezee-beezee," which J and I believe might come from listening to his Fisher Price music table that sings a song about being "busy, busy, busy, busy." He has recently been doing this whisper thing where he will mouth these funny little sounds without actually making any noise. It's hysterical - and quite endearing. Again, something I'd love to get on video. The important thing is that I know that he can understand SO MUCH of what we say and obviously knows names of toys and books and food because when we ask him about them, he is able to correctly pick that specific thing up. So we'll just keep reading to him, and talking to him, and singing to him, and hopefully, one day, he'll talk back. :)
A sweet mental picture...just so I don't forget...he is so cute when he is really tired, and you put him in his crib. He lays down on his stomach with his little head on this small, square lovey with the silky side up. He sticks his little bottom in the air and tucks his arms underneath himself. Sigh...sweet boy.
